Study Plan: 2 Weeks for the Swedish Citizenship Test
Only have two weeks? You can achieve a lot – if you study focused and every day. This study plan is designed for 14 days and is based on UHR's (the Swedish Council for Higher Education) 13 knowledge areas in 'Sverige i fokus' (Sweden in Focus).
How the Plan Works
Dedicate 45–75 minutes each day for two weeks. Each session consists of three parts: reading, practising with exercise questions, and a brief review of yesterday's topic.
You will need UHR's 'Sverige i fokus' (free) and an account on Medborgarprovet.com to practise with module training and practice tests.
Week 1 – The Core of Society
Day 1 (Mon): The Country of Sweden – geography, population, and language. Practise 10 module questions.
Day 2 (Tue): Sweden's democratic system. Practise 10 questions + review Day 1.
Day 3 (Wed): How Sweden is governed – Riksdagen (the Swedish Parliament), government, municipalities, regions. 10 questions + review.
Day 4 (Thu): Political elections and parties. 10 questions + review.
Day 5 (Fri): Law and justice – the rule of law and the courts. 10 questions + review.
Day 6 (Sat): Human rights and the role of the media. 15 questions (combined practice).
Day 7 (Sun): Review day – quickly read through your notes from the week. Take a short practice test of 30 questions.
Week 2 – Welfare, Economy, and History
Day 8 (Mon): The welfare society – school, healthcare, social insurance. 10 questions.
Day 9 (Tue): Labour market and personal finance. 10 questions + review Day 8.
Day 10 (Wed): Sweden's modern history. 10 questions + review.
Day 11 (Thu): Sweden and the wider world – EU, UN, Nordic countries. 10 questions + review.
Day 12 (Fri): Secular state and multi-religious country + Traditions and holidays. 15 questions.
Day 13 (Sat): Complete practice test with 60 questions under timed conditions (90 minutes).
Day 14 (Sun): Test day or final review – go through your weak areas from the practice test.
Tips for Those with Limited Time
Prefer short daily sessions over one long one. The brain remembers better with repetition.
Put your mobile on aeroplane mode during the session. You don't need more than an hour of focus.
Explain what you've learned to someone else – being able to explain is proof that you've understood.
