The Test for Residents of Borlänge

According to UHR, the citizenship test is a multiple-choice test with approximately 60 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Each question has four answer options with one correct answer. The test is written in Swedish and on paper. The first test opportunity is scheduled for 15 August 2026 in Stockholm.

Who Needs to Take the Test?

Most adults applying for Swedish citizenship from 6 June 2026 onwards will need to demonstrate knowledge of Swedish society. Some exceptions apply, for example, if you have completed sfi (Swedish for Immigrants) course D or have other approved education. Migrationsverket determines each individual case.

According to Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency), new rules for Swedish citizenship apply from 6 June 2026. Part of the requirement is to demonstrate knowledge of Swedish society – often in the form of a citizenship test administered by UHR.
