Citizenship Test
The 'medborgarskapsprov' (Swedish citizenship test) is the name of the knowledge test about Swedish society that will be introduced as part of Sweden's new rules for Swedish citizenship from June 6, 2026.
The test is developed and administered by UHR (the Swedish Council for Higher Education) and, according to UHR, consists of approximately 60 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes. It is written in Swedish and on paper.
The content of the test is based on UHR's educational material 'Sverige i fokus' (Sweden in Focus) and covers 13 knowledge areas β from democracy and the rule of law to welfare, the labour market, and traditions.
Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency) determines if the test is a requirement for you by sending an instruction letter. Therefore, you do not register yourself directly.
At Medborgarprovet.com, you can prepare yourself with guides, modules, and practice tests. We are not a government agency but a private practice service based on public sources.
