Most adults applying for Swedish citizenship from June 6, 2026, onwards will need to demonstrate knowledge of Swedish society. Some exceptions apply, for example, for those who have completed sfi (Swedish for Immigrants) course D or have other approved education. Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency) decides on a case-by-case basis.
