The Test for Malmö Residents

The citizenship test is a national exam – the content, number of questions, and assessment are the same whether you live in Malmö or any other Swedish municipality. Malmö is located in Skåne county and has approximately 360,000 inhabitants.

The test is developed by UHR (Universitets- och högskolerådet, the Swedish Council for Higher Education). Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency) will notify you of a test appointment via an assignment letter once you have submitted your citizenship application.

According to UHR, the citizenship test is a multiple-choice exam with approximately 60 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Each question has four answer options with one correct answer. The test is taken in Swedish and on paper. The first test date is scheduled for August 15, 2026, in Stockholm.
