Knowledge Requirements

Knowledge requirements mean that you, as an applicant for Swedish citizenship, must demonstrate basic knowledge of Swedish society.

This requirement is normally met by passing the citizenship test, but some groups may have other ways to demonstrate their knowledge.

It is Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency) that determines how the knowledge requirement is met in your case.

In the long term, requirements for proficiency in the Swedish language will also be introduced.
